Our Mother-Child Residences
MOMMAS House addresses homelessness by providing Transitional Housing, Emergency Shelter and Permanent Housing services.
Transitional Housing: MOMMAS House flagship program. In this program the young mothers and their children may live at MOMMAS for up to two years while they work towards individualized goals to help them achieve self-sufficiency and prepare them for independent living. Mothers apply directly to MOMMAS House for admission.
Emergency Shelter: In coordination with the Nassau County Department of Social Services, MOMMAS House provides short-term emergency housing to pregnant and parenting homeless youth mothers and their babies. The main focus of this program is to help stabilize the mother by ensuring she and her child(ren) are receiving all necessary services and accessing available community resources. Then MOMMAS House will assist the family in searching for long-term housing. All referrals for Emergency Shelter must go through the Nassau County DSS Emergency Housing Unit.
Permanent Housing: MOMMAS House operates a small permanent supportive housing program. Two 2-bedroom apartments for homeless mothers with children who may continue to live in the apartment for as long as they need the level of support services provided.
MOMMAS House operates 4 Mother-Child Transitional Housing Residences located in family-oriented communities throughout Nassau County.

MOMMAS House Permanent Supportive Housing Program
MOMMAS House understands that the road to independent living is not easy. For this reason, a 2 Family residence located in East Massapequa, NY was purchased to offer continued assistance. Our East Massapequa home houses two separate apartments.
This residence, originally funded through a HUD grant, is strictly for formerly homeless families who have graduated from one of our mother-child transitional housing residences and are prepared to live on their own with minimal supervision. While families who reside in our 2-family home live independently, MOMMAS House continues to offer support services as needed.
*NOTE: The MOMMAS Permanent Housing Program is only available to families who have been residing in one of the MOMMAS House homeless housing programs (Emergency or Transitional). Vacancies in the program are offered to eligible households.
