 About the Honoree

Anthony Spinelli

Anthony Spinelli is the Grand Knight, Pope Pius Council #4422, Knights of Columbus, St. Raphael’s Parish in East Meadow. Prior to becoming a Knight in 2018, he had a 41 year career in Federal Service in the U.S. Department of Education, serving as a program specialist, evaluating/monitoring, and advocating for the employment of individuals with disabilities, in the Rehabilitation Services Administration, and Compliance Team Investigator in the Office for Civil Rights. During this time, Tony’s commitment to service for others included dedication to numerous programs and projects of St. Pius X Church (Rosedale, Queens); Board Member of the Rosedale Civic Association; Scout Master of BSA Troop 556, where he assisted 10 young men to achieve the highest rank of Eagle, and twice served as New York Chapter President of the National Rehabilitation Association, among service on numerous advisory committees of organizations of and for persons with disabilities.

After retiring, the lure to continue community service, presented itself in becoming a Brother Knight in Pope Pius XII Council at St. Raphael’s Parish. Devoted to the founding principles of the Order: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, Tony earned the first three Degrees by 2019, and the highest Degree, Patriotism, becoming a Sir Knight, in 2020. He is honored to have served as Pro Life Committee Chair for over 3 years, Membership Director for 2 years, Deputy Grand Knight (2 years), as well as Charity Committee Chair, and was the lead for special initiatives , such as Ukraine Relief Fund, Maui Disaster Relief, and annually coordinating with our Parish Social Ministry for the St. Vincent DePaul Society Clothing Drive. ALL this Faith in Action, in the form of hundreds of dedicated service hours each year by my Brother Knights of Pope Pius XII Council, keeps us devoted to the original principles of our founder, Blessed Michael McGivney, 142 years ago. “Where there is a need, there is a Knight.”

Tony and his wife Barbara, are blessed in 50 years of marriage, with 3 children, and 6 grandchildren.

For the past few years Tony has led special projects to benefit MOMMAS House including planning and executing several collection drives to provide much needed material and financial assistance to MOMMAS programs. We are so grateful for his selfless devotion to helping those in need and assisting us in carrying out the mission of MOMMAS House.
